About Housing Authority of the County of Alameda

The Housing Authority of the County of Alameda (HACA) operates a number of programs administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that provide rental housing or rental assistance for low-income families, the elderly, people with disabilities, and others, in much of Alameda County.

As of late 2017, HACA’s Section 8 Voucher wait list is closed. HACA will likely not open the wait list again for three to five or more years. They will announce wait list openings on the Home page of their website at http://www.haca.net and in local newspapers and at (510) 727-8588.



Mission Statement

HACA's mission is to deliver housing, housing assistance and related services to low-, very low-, and extremely low-income:

Elderly persons and persons with verifiable disabilities, in order to enable them to live as independently as possible within their economic resources; and
Persons who are not elderly or do not have verifiable disabilities, for the time necessary to enable them to become self-sufficient and economically independent.
